How trust score works
Trust score is Vegigo's reputation signal for food-safety contributions. It helps diners understand whose vegetarian, vegan, Jain, Buddhist vegetarian, halal-veg, gluten-free, and allergy-sensitive information has been useful over time.

What the score means
A high trust score does not mean someone is perfect. It means their contributions have built a stronger pattern of reliability. Vegigo considers several signals together, because raw activity alone should not make someone authoritative.
Helpful evidence
The strongest contributions help another diner decide what they can safely order at a real place.
Honest uncertainty
If information is disputed or unclear, Vegigo treats that uncertainty as part of the evidence.
What can increase it
Verifying dietary tags that help others order safely.
Sharing useful safety context in restaurant-linked posts.
Contributing across real restaurants, not just one place.
Building a consistent history of helpful community activity.
What can decrease it
Food-safety information that is repeatedly disputed by the community.
Confirmed information showing a contribution was unsafe or inaccurate.
Low-quality or inconsistent activity that does not help diners decide.

Vegigo intentionally treats the top of the scale as hard to reach. Twenty quick verifications should not make someone maximally trusted.

Common questions
Why a score can sit still
- I verified a lot of tags but my score has not moved. Why?
- A tag is only resolved once three different people have voted on that same tag at that same restaurant. Until then your check is recorded and shown on your profile, but the community has not settled whether it was right, so it does not move the score in either direction. In a city where few people have joined yet, most checks sit in this state for a while.
- What does "confirmed by others" mean on my profile?
- It is how many of your checks the community has actually resolved. The rest are counted and waiting. A score built on three resolved checks is a much weaker claim than the same score built on thirty, which is why the two numbers are shown separately.
- Does verifying more always raise my score?
- No. Volume on its own does not earn trust — being right when the community resolves your checks does. This is deliberate: twenty quick verifications should not make someone maximally trusted.
- Can my score go down?
- Yes. If the community resolves a tag against the way you voted, that counts against you. A post confirmed as unsafe or inaccurate by a moderator does too. Simply disagreeing with the crowd is never penalised on its own — only being wrong is.
- What does the score unlock?
- Becoming a Local Guide. You can apply from the Local tab once you have shared at least 10 posts and your trust score is 65 or higher; an admin then reviews your local knowledge before approving. Guide confirmations are marked on every restaurant ledger, so the bar is deliberately above the middle of the scale.

Vegigo explains the principles publicly, but does not publish exact formula weights.
The goal is to help people understand what earns credibility without turning trust into a game. Exact weights may change as the community grows and better evidence signals become available.
